This year, I had the pleasure of covering three of Quebec’s most iconic festivals: Osheaga, Ilesoniq and Lasso. Each of these events offers a unique experience for festival-goers and photographers alike, and it’s always a privilege to work with the evenko team to capture these unforgettable moments.
Osheaga: A world where everything is bigger
Osheaga is Canada’s biggest arts and music festival. The energy is palpable from the moment you step onto the site. With impressive brand activations and a crowd as diverse as it is committed, the challenge is always to capture the essence of the moment in images. This year, I delivered 1,430 photos in three days, a personal record I’m super proud of. During the weekend, I was lucky enough to collaborate with several major brands, including Molson, Bacardi, Absolut, Loto Québec, Sephora, Aperol and many others. Overall, a weekend that could be summed up in 2 words: grandeur and splendor.
Ilesoniq: Human warmth at the heart of electro music
What impressed me most at Ilesoniq was the warmth and friendliness of the crowd. The festival-goers turned out to be incredibly sociable and open, with many approaching me to be photographed and also simply to talk to me. I really had some memorable exchanges. In two days, I delivered 1,070 photos. IleSoniq always rhymes with pyrotechnics. The flames on stage and the scrolling images in the backdrop really added a dramatic touch to the photos, making them unique to the festival!
Lasso: Country in all its glory
The Lasso festival brought the festival trilogy full circle. Country fans or not, everyone got into the spirit for one weekend, and it was great. The crowd was particularly warm and accessible. The proof: this is the festival where I took the most photos of festival-goers. I also had the chance to capture some heartfelt moments of connection with Matt Lang fans during a meet and greet, as well as photographing Fireball’s dressing rooms, kiosks and activations, which simply stole the show with their creativity.
These three festivals, though very different, all share one thing in common: a close-knit team that makes incredible results possible. Working with evenko on this project means having the chance to immerse myself in 3 completely different universes for a few days, and that’s an incredible feeling for which I’m truly grateful.
