Gabrielle Proulx

This summer, Gabrielle Proulx contacted me with a clear idea in mind. She was starting out as a color analyst and wanted images that would represent her, but also show her world. From our very first conversation, I knew we were going to get along well. Gab is a ball of energy with very precise ideas. Working with someone like that makes you want to push yourself.

We chose the Espace Urbain studio in Montreal for our session. The place is huge, perfect for experimenting and trying out different concepts. When Gab arrived, everything was already well thought out: various outfits, staging ideas, and above all, an attitude ready to go. As soon as we started shooting, she was in her element. It was natural, real. She has a way of being in front of the camera that makes everything simple.

We worked on a photo bank that would really serve her: professional portraits for credibility, but also images that evoked her field without her necessarily being in it. It was really important to vary the styles and never repeat the same formula. Gab wanted visuals that spoke to her, that showed her professional side, but also her bubbly personality.

Then came that magical moment towards the end of the shoot. There was something special about the last 30 minutes we spent together. We’d found our groove, and we produced a ton of incredible images, as if everything just happened. It was fluid, spontaneous, and frankly, super satisfying.

In the end, we created photos that capture not only who Gab is, but also the energy she puts into her new project. Working with someone so motivated and creative is exactly why I love this job. Thank you, Gab, for this wonderful experience and for your confidence!
