Some projects begin with meticulous planning. Others, like the LOOP x Mateina photoshoot, are born in a hurry, but with such strong creative energy.
When Amélie Perreault contacted me, there was only a week left to design, organize and execute a complete photo shoot for the launch of Mateina’s LOOP energy booster shots and Yerba Mate Loose Leaf sachets. The kind of challenge that requires not only speed, but also a good dose of intuition. So I had little time to immerse myself in the Loop brand image established by Lissa Bouchard.
And there was a major detail: the session had to include the four founders of the two Quebec brands – Élodie Simard, Nicolas Beaupré, David Côté and Julie Poitras-Saulnier – in a single session, with very little time available.
Outdoor shoots mean weather. As soon as I arrived in front of the LOOP offices, it started raining. Not a timid drizzle… a real threatening gray sky. There was no turning back: it had to be dealt with. I took a moment to look around and feel the team’s energy. We decided to stay outside, to keep the environment raw and authentic. With the rain, conditions weren’t ideal. But this constraint became an opportunity. The diffuse natural lighting softened the contrasts and gave an almost cinematic effect. And the rest… to be decided in post-production!
As soon as the four founders got together, there was this natural connection. Laughter escaped between poses, knowing winks, a palpable team spirit. And that’s when the magic began. The 2000s-inspired creative brief, with its relaxed, spontaneous poses, made perfect sense. It was more than just a product photoshoot: it was an illustration of their complicity and shared vision.
I particularly remember the moment when they were all lying on the floor, surrounded by booster shots and bags of yerba mate. David Côté cracked a joke that relaxed everyone, and we captured this perfect image: completely sincere.
This project wasn’t just a shoot. It was a story: that of a collaboration between two committed Quebec companies, with shared values and products that speak of energy and well-being. On the networks, the images got people talking: over thirty shares on Instagram, engagement on LinkedIn… but above all, feedback that emphasized the authenticity of the moments captured. That’s the real power of visual storytelling: telling the human story behind the brand, not just the product.
This LOOP x Mateina photoshoot reminded me why I love capturing these moments so much. Because beyond the products, it’s the emotions and the real moments that leave a lasting impression. Thanks to Amélie Perreault, Lissa Bouchard and the whole team for this memorable collaboration.
